When Kristen decided to leave a lucrative career she loved to become a full-time mom, it wasn’t the easy transition that she had thought it would be. Kristen wanted so badly to be home with her infant son, and felt lucky that she could make that decision, but she quickly realized that she was missing some of the passion and fulfillment that her career had provided. This new phase in her life opened her up to find new passion and purpose at Peach, a growing fashion company that gives women the platform to build 100% flexible businesses on their own schedule and terms.
We sat down with Kristen, Stylist & Executive Director at Peach, to learn about her journey. From working in the financial industry to becoming a full-time mom and Peach entrepreneur, we hope her story will inspire you.
Tell us about your transition from full-time career to full-time mom:
I worked in technology sales & finance for 10 years. This was a really fun and lucrative career for me, and so after my first child, I knew I was going to go back.
However, I didn’t realize how hard that would be. I was getting up, feeding the baby, getting dressed, taking him to daycare, and then commuting more than an hour to work. As a result, I couldn’t focus or feel happy at my job anymore. When I was there, all I wanted to do was get home to the baby, and it felt like having two full-time jobs—my career and then this brand new job as a mom. I needed to step back and re-evaluate my position, and so that’s when I decided to leave my work and become a full-time mom.
How did you find out about Peach?
I was actually looking for new clothes. My wardrobe was full of fancy work attire that I no longer was wearing, and I needed clothes that I could be a “mom” in. Clothes that could be tugged on or drooled in if needed, but I could still look stylish and put together. So I essentially went on Google to search for activewear and athleisure, and that’s how I found Peach. I was immediately drawn in by how beautiful the clothes were, and once I saw that Peach offered a flexible business opportunity, I knew I needed to learn more. About a week later, I signed up to become a Peach stylist and received my first starter kit full of awesome clothes to wear and share.
What made Peach the right work-at-home opportunity for you?
Being at Peach quickly felt like I was back at my corporate job, but I had the freedom to do it on my own terms. I could stay at home with my son, and work a job I love with a community of women that I really connected to. And, I felt like I had a real seat at the table at Peach. A huge turning point for me was going to Peach’s Leadership Summit and getting to meet the CEO, COO, and our whole community of stylists. It really made me realize that I matter at this company, and that I’m not just a cog in the wheel. So I keep telling people, if you are slightly interested in this company, get involved now, because this is the ground floor.
How has Peach impacted you as a woman and mom?
Becoming a Peach stylist has raised my confidence so much. As a new mom, my life took a 180, and I was feeling lost after leaving my full-time job. Peach has given me the confidence to put myself out there in the real world again, and I’ve learned that when I’m passionate about something, nothing will stop me from getting it done. I look forward to doing this every day, and on days when I’m tired, I feel motivated to keep going. I tell myself, Kristen, you got this amazing business to work, so suck it up buttercup!
What excites you for this year?
Recently, my sister joined my team as a Peach stylist, and I’m so excited to be able to work alongside her building this brand. We’ve always wanted to work together and I never thought it would be possible until now. Beyond that, I’m excited for all our upcoming collections, the community we’re building with fitness and fashion ambassadors around the country, and for my personal growth. I’m excited to watch my paychecks go up, to grow my team, and to keep having fun doing this.
What advice would you give to other work-at-home moms?
I would tell them to take it one day at a time. Do what you can when you can do it, because otherwise, you’ll just get overwhelmed. Pick something one day you want to accomplish, and just do it, start to finish, with a positive attitude.
